While injured, I've been spending a lot of time socializing with my friends. In particular, my friend Fooly and his group. Back in October, They got me to try this immensely popular Roblox game called "Dandy's World." I was hesitant at first, I'm not really a fan of Roblox at all, but I gave it a fair shake. I wanted to spend time getting to know everyone, and a game is a great icebreaker.
I'm really glad I did. Not only has it been a fulfilling time socially, but it's also been a blast to play. It's a simple game, best summarized as "Dead By Daylight but PVE instead of PVP." You play as a bunch of unique and colorful "Toons" who each have their own builds and abilities. You use those abilities to help your team complete generators. The goal is to finish as many floors as you can. It's a "horror" game, but the horror elements are very light compared to what else is out there. There's not really any blood, gore, or violence. I mean you explode when you die, but it's more comedic than anything else. ANYWAY the game makes me very happy. I've become quite obsessed with it.
My favorite thing about it, and what makes the game so immensely popular, are the character designs. All of the Toons are wonderful. They're simple enough to be open to interpretation and expression, while also having enough detail and complexity to show character and personality. They have entertaining dialogue that fleshes them out, and it's a ton of fun to see them interact. Of course, I've grown quite attached to them as a result.
I want to draw my favorites doing many good activities, but I have to learn how to draw them first. So, I have been experimenting and practicing. This page is the first of many.
First up: Looey! Looey is a balloon. Maybe a balloon dog? I don't know. But he's a balloon~ He's really grown on me as one of my favorite designs. Drawing him with a body that has a bit more weight and squish really makes the neurons activate in my brain. These doodles are me trying to figure out how to draw him in a way that feels right in my brain. I think I've got a pretty good direction.
Anyway I do hope you enjoy these. I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea but... I'm trying to draw what I like, trying to reconnect with what's true to my feelings and desires. My art isn't good or fun if I don't enjoy it. So... I guess I'm drawing the funny Roblox creatures~ ♥
