After competing against his friend and rival, Flick. C.J., the beaver, decided to adventure to random, deserted islands outside the competition to find emerging fishing talent for his live streams, where villagers compete searching for the rarest fish that no one has ever caught before. It's been a year since C.J. tried his durable personal fishing rod that never breaks, and he always puts his full effort into it, using all his strength to keep a fish in sight as he casts, reels it in, and shows it off on his live stream. One day, as C.J. sailed toward the next deserted island, he heard someone singing in the distance and met a sailor named Kapp'n, a green sea turtle who enjoys singing whenever he gives villagers a boat ride or when he's alone heading to a faraway island. He sings about random things every time and takes a quick breath break whenever he talks to a passenger about his past adventures before continuing to sing. Anyway, as they both noticed and waved at each other, they stopped their boats for a moment. When C.J. was about to speak to him, Kapp’n grabbed C.J.’s shoulders and shook him, overreacting. That last night, a large shadow was coming from the sea. He thought it must have been a whale when Kapp’n was transporting a passenger to a faraway island, and suddenly his boat started to shake, almost like an earthquake for a second. This shocked Kapp'n and the passenger when they saw a large shadow swiftly pass by. Additionally, it also spooked Kapp'n into thinking his boat might flip over for a second because of the size of the fish, while C.J. tries to calm him down by telling him to take a few deep breaths. He would gladly fulfill his request to catch that fish so that no one would be harmed in the seas. C.J. then started his boat again and hastened to the next island to capture for his next livestream. After reaching his destination, C.J. then set up his Fishing Tourney near Resident Services and announced to the villagers that anyone who signed up was welcome to join in. Participants were challenged to catch as many fish as they could in three minutes. Those who signed up could join as many times as they wanted until the event ended at 6:00 PM. The person who catches the largest fish will be featured in C.J.’s livestream, receive a trophy based on their rank, and get limited-edition merchandise. Because C.J.’s Fishing Tourney is only available in January, April, July, and October, which are the middle months of the year. As the villagers heard the announcement, they grabbed their fishing rods or rented ones from C.J. and began fishing as quickly as they could, at their own pace. Then, as time flew by, it was 6:00 pm. C.J. then presented the trophies to the top three players, and livestreamed the top-ranked player as they carried the gold trophy with pride. Once the Fishing Tourney was over, C.J. waved goodbye to the villagers and decided to observe the fish the players caught, but none of them were big enough to be mentioned in Kapp'n's story. So he headed back to his boat with a bunch of fish the players had caught. However, before he goes back, he wants to fish one last time before heading to his boat, so he uses his lure, casts his fishing rod, and waits for a bite. Then, suddenly, he feels a very big bite on his fishing rod. He tries his best to reel it in, and with a sudden reaction as the large shadow pops out of the sea. He notices a very large fish that was mentioned in Kapp’n’s story. This excites C.J., prompting him to livestream to his audience on social media, and he also notices something else besides the fish impaled in the sand. It was some kind of white sword he had never seen before. Although it looked shiny, he couldn’t resist picking it up and displaying it as a decoration while he admired the sword. A bright flash appeared with a gray aura surrounding the area.
