Arcanum is the best steampunk setting to ever exist.

I've never seen a single jRPG let me roleplay a mentally challenged person like Arcanum did. Virgil ALMOST gave up on me when my 2-INT halfogre mispronounced his name ten times within five minutes.

I tended go dunk my charisma into the ground to get more will as a spellcaster and then wondered why the fuck i can't recruit anyone except virgil and dog

All i know about Arcanum is that it's one of those games that the few people who actually played it will not shut up about how underrated & amazing it is. x'D

I mean, it's a game by a now defunct studio and it was never as well received as two fallout games made by the same people.
It's also 25 years old. A significant part of the modern internet fandom was either not even born yet or extremely young by the time it came out.
It's writing is aged (like, fair for it's day, but lot of stuff wouldn't fly in current time), but it's extremely open-ended and as massive as the technology back then allowed.

I'm guessing Planescape AitM doesn't count XD

I just recently got into the genre with Owlcats Warhammer 40k Rogue Traders. I haven’t played it but I’ve heard good things about the Wasteland franchise.
