In this high-stakes crossover, the villainous Dr. M transforms Surge the Tenrec into the ultimate rival to Sonic the Hedgehog by siphoning energy from a captive Lightning Wisps. I’ve always loved Surge’s design in the IDW comics, so bringing her into the Sly Encounter was a real treat.
Also, drawing Dr. M—one of Sly Cooper’s greatest adversaries—was especially enjoyable because it gave me the chance to highlight just how cruel he can be when placed in the Sonic universe. Using disposable energy sources to fuel Surge really emphasizes his malice, something I don’t think Dr. Eggman in the modern games would go as far as doing.
