History presents itself as a trove of knowledge. Some things fall into obscurity, only to be rediscovered again.
Stone and steel aren't permanent, paper and parchment - even less so. Yet I came all the way there, eager to see and hear their stories.
Listen, read, witness. The story of the land, of others, ancestors, nations, friends... They are all a form of wealth. Wealth that can be lost to time, but not stolen.
Sometimes, it's the discussion I cherish. Another voice to challenge the one of my own mind. It keeps the thoughts from drifting, a tether to reality.
Quite a few value friends for their affections, but I admire a bounty rarer than those - their insights.
Bless their wise souls, willing to share their gifts.
Some colder colors this time around. Engaged in one of my favorite pastimes... Just talking, presumably after abstract and intellectual things. Or not, who knows?
