This is the first, and short, chapter of the urban fantasy novel I've been working on. First started about 2 years ago, it sat at about 2 paragraphs into chapter 2. About a year ago I wrote a few more paragraphs and then it languished again. At this point chapter 2 is now complete, done over flights during this last week of travel, and I'm inspired enough to keep on writing :)

It's intentionally short. I wanted to set up the feel, character, and mood with a nice short BANG of action, humor and tone. I actually rather imagined it as the opening scene to the premier of a TV series, when I wrote it. Something to grab the audience, pull them in and let them know what kind of ride they are in for, right off the bat.

I hope you enjoy it, and it grabs your attention and imagination. As of yet the book is currently untitled. It is provided in both raw (with spacing) text format, or here in the post.
