Part 17: Running
Seventeenth illustration in the Journey Series.
"And then he ran. It took me a second, a long, unending, painful, wonderful, relieving, crushing, world-shattering second. And then I stood up. I took a step. And another one. And yet another. And before I knew, I was running around in the gardens with him, and we were laughing, screaming, playing tag. And with every tag, every clever move he made, every time I caught him, every time he bested me, I let a part of myself go. I was a sorcerer, yes. But I didnβt need that anymore. I was a craftsman, for sure, but these hands would craft no more. I was divine, a god by myself, but I had no need for divinity. When we finally stopped running, and scuffled on the ground playfully, I was a boy again."
