Robin's 'Auntie Kat' - one of his mum's girlfriends - volunteers to babysit him despite never having spent much time alone with the little fox before.
After three months we're back with another story and this time it's just as cute, fluffy, and peaceful as Fly by Night was but this time it's a character (headmate stand-in, as always lol) that hasn't had as much attention as his cousins yet and an entirely new character (another headmate stand-in) before we get back to writing whatever comes next, which as it stands is looking like another Jay/Riley story lol
Fingers crossed the gap between this and the next one won't be as long!

This is absolutely lovely. The way Robin's relentless energy and Katja's quiet intimidation slowly give way to mutual comfort is so warm and natural. I think thatlittle moment where she catches herself about to say "if you're still awake when Tessa gets back" is pitch-perfect.
And the Depeche Mode song choice? Brilliant. "Enjoy the Silence" landing as the lullaby is a beautiful little piece of narrative serendipity. The line about her singing an octave higher to avoid dysphoria is handled with such care, and the image of them both drifting off together on the sofa is just *chef's kiss*.
Sweet found-family moment, wonderfully executed! Bravissimo!

Thank you so much!! The whole thing was kind of written around that final scene with the 'title track' and spread out from there, Katja (or at least the headmate she's based on) is usually a lot more guarded than this but it was so fun to write her as slowly letting her barriers down because Robin's just a kit...and also for Robin to get some time in a story that's not him running around pretending to be a werewolf or waving a chicken sandwich at Maddie lmao
We're glad the warmth came through so well with it, it'd been a while since we wrote a super cosy and warm kind of littlefur story like this so we wanted to make it as good as possible - we always seem to do best when it's stories set at night when everyone's kind of sleepy, it's a big littlespace mood for us and we're nothing if not predictable dghkdhk
