this day i had come into work to a bit of a frightening prospect.
For some contexts, generally in networking world, there is often something called "high availability"
basically it just means you put 2 of the same device instead of one, because it's always better to have some redundancy if one of the two devices has a problem and fails for whatever reason
This is very common with firewalls

this day turns out a pair of firewalls i had been assigned to work on suddenly had something called a "failover" which basically means one of the devices had a problem, and had to shift the responsability of being the primary to the other one
normally this isn't a huge issue, but in this case it cause some unexpected problems and i was a bit stressed about it. Mostly things were fine afterwards, but it really put the fear of god in me to come into work and find that out first thing in the morning...
