gong beast (whose real name is martin gong) is a mini-boss found deep within the temple ruins of the ancient world. gong beast is very large, surpassing even the geek band. his skin is quite hard and metallic, with a golden hue across most of its body, accented with red and pink. Its form is rather geometric, featurin' several spheres attached to his ears and arms. he also has two red fingers on each hand, long arms, 'nd rather short legs. he possesses long, rabbit-like ears, 'nd his body is adorned with several spirals that may serve as secondary decoration. his eyes are straight spirals, 'nd it has a wide mouth, givin' it a cartoonish monster-like appearance. at the ends of his limbs, he has what appear to be pink hands 'nd feet. at the tips of his ears, he also has red metallic spheres. It is a dreamification/imitation of several ancient gongs that are kept and exhibited in the froggitland museum. gong beast is extremely shy 'nd 'mewhat of a loner. he often dislikes bein' treated as a threat or anythin' like that. he claims to have been bullied several times for being scary, 'nd he blushes if 'meone tells him he's cute. like other dreamers, gong beast makes several very frequent spellin' mistakes, which may indicate that he has a unique speakin' style, possibly as a result of his isolation. when gong beast first encounters the geek band, he tries to intimidate and scare them. however, when illuminated with SOUL, it's revealed that he's shy and clumsy. after declarin' the geek band his "frends," he's determined to help them, for example, by givin' them his "clembclows" and rescuing them when they're attacked by the knightmare. his speech talk often replaces 'me letters, like "friend" with "frend." this also happens when he uses words like "claws," "clows," and "fruzing," among others. In 'me cases, he lengthens words to two syllables, such as "freest" or "guung." martin gang is found as the party delves deeper into the temple ruins, stumblin' upon the instrument room by chance. they eventually reach martin gong, where he is hidin'. after bein' defeated by the party, he runs away, now ashamed of his terrifying appearance, only to crash into some giant gongs and injure himself. pazuzu tries to heal him, unaware that he is only healing a small portion of his body with no real effect. goniajak causes kalligo to accidentally heal gong beast. feeling better, martin proclaims the dreemers as his 'frends' 'nd gives them his 'clembclows' as thanks. martin gong reappears to help the dreemers climb after the knightmare 'nd, after bein' knocked down, is saved by several dreamers such as mogurutasu, fang, and others, to throw the heroes to the top. if dreamers are not recruited, martin will allow the party to climb on their own, when the tower 'comes too fragile, 'fore bein' repeatedly hit by the knightmare's attacks, presumably concludin' his death. his combat is quite similar to a puyo-puto-style game, with the difference that a poorly drawn part of his face in one of the blocks. he also introduces the Illuminated sound mechanic, a kind of puzzle style based on breakin' small faces to light up and gain more time, like any puzzle game, he cannot be attacked due to the darkness, which only illuminates his wide mouth. In the neutral/pacifist route, after defeatin' the titan guard, dependin' on how many dreamers 've been recruited, martin gong may appear in funky town, servin' as a gentle giant, a role that now seems to be 'mewhat accepted, guarding the castle itself.
