How would a deer wear pants?... Like this I guess.
This one's from ages ago but I rediscovered it and liked the concept enough to give her a touch-up and post. Far from my best work and I don't like this style anymore but I figure I might as well free it from prison since it's my most recent attempt at clothing her.
As usual excuse my lack of activity, motivation is a real struggle these days. I've got one more coming for ya though that I just finished so at least there's that. Still just sketches cause I'm trying to lock tf in on anatomy (still). Rendering will happen maybe in like five years at this rate.
Anyway stay strong and take care. <3

Unironically though! I make so much post-tf stuff I haven't even tapped into what the process might even look like as it happens, which is a whole can of worms in itself really... Definitely some tf anatomy studies in my future. Lock in. Lock tf in.
You're always so kind to me, thank you! :3

It's all true! I absolutely love the post-tf / inter-rim tf "trying to live life as it was" stuff, it's perfect. so many artists just go "op, they're an creature now, guess that means they are dead!" and it kills me. To see this stuff laid out, especially in this creative sphinx style is amazing.
Also your art is wonderfully done as well, and I am actively taking notes and studying.

Yesss 100% agree, to me a tf should be like, chapter 1 of a novel ala Metamorphosis. Maybe a slow burn in the first half. Don't get me wrong, I love a good process, but something about the dysphoria, the denial, and the awkwardness of coming to terms with it gradually just scratches my itch. And sphinx is like the perfect amount of uncanny but I'm picky, it has to be done a certain way.
And thank you!! That means so much honestly! I hope to find my influence in your own work sometime :3

Completely agree on all points. My pet peeve is when a story ends in identity death or the character is just 100% ok with the transformation. As if being switched into an entirely different species will somehow be a fully painless (literally) process. With no difficult either physically or mentally. Like, come on, at least have them mention it!
And the sphinx is just such a good middle ground between the ridiculous anatomical nightmare that is the centaur, and the actual animal. It's something I've wanted to try my hand at myself, but I can't nail the mixture like you do, I just end up with an uncanny mess.

Yes!! As soon as full ID happens I'm out. But there's some sweet spots where people sorta start to lose themselves, but as long as they're conscious of it and actively wrestle with their base instincts it can work. I guess like any good story there has to be conflict. Maybe why I prefer long comics and stories to sequences and single images, although sometimes the anatomy just looks real nice.
And I unironically love centaurs! They might not make a ton of sense biologically, but a change into one comes with its own set of challenges to overcome. It might even be my favorite classic mythological creature, don't @ me, they're peak.
But yes, keep trying for sure! For Sarah it was literal years until she started looking decent in my eyes, and I still tweak her pretty often. I think the uncanniness comes from the stark contrast, but once I started trying to blend the human bits with the animal ones more (like a gradient) it starts to look more natural. I think the snout goes a long way. But it really depends on style as well! Some people still make it work.
Personally I'd just compile a moodboard of all your favorite sphinxes and partial human creatures and point out the specific things that work for you in each one. Sort of a wishlist of what you want to draw from. And of course practice and fundamentals above all else! Draw figures, draw portraits, draw creatures. Do that a bunch and then mash em together.
Hopefully that helps somewhat :3
