This is very interesting to me because I’ve also been thinking about using a typewriter. I prefer typing out my thoughts more than writing them down, and having a typewriter seems like a fun way to do it while avoiding dependency on a computer or phone, which is something I think everyone should start doing considering what the internet seems to be going towards.

whoa, i'm surprised to read anyone else would be thinking about it! and yeah honestly even just the satisfying weight and sound of typing things out of typewriter is a joy of its own!
and yeah, at least a typewriter won't ask me to pay a subscription to use all of its functionality lol

and yes, i think that is my main driver for this too: given recent revelations about the people running the world, it just feels like mainstream online platforms are completely tainted. The horrid way the internet has bcome is primarily financed and paid for to BE that way.
Something about that just makes me sick

Yeah typewriters also don't collect as much of your data as possible or shove AI into your face, there's so much more privacy to using a typewriter. The only goal that mainstream platforms have now is to maximize profits so the rich can get richer, it's absolutely disgusting behavior and it's making wealth inequality worse than it already is. I've made an effort to at least limit internet use in my personal environment, so FA is pretty much the only online presence I have nowadays as well. I really really hope this website doesn't go to the dogs like everything else has.

i think you're doing the right thing stripping mainstream platforms from your life.
So far i've felt FA is pretty neutral/ok in terms of what i upload here personally, i know there's controversies with it, but personally since i really only engage with it at the SFW level, it feels pretty stable. Fingers crossed it can stay that way
