Joe is a bird; Seb is a pig. Portrayed as original limbless Angry Birds characters.
Simple as the original designs were, there's a lot more to the mobile game franchise than just birds against pigs; Angry Birds laid the foundation for my entire presence in the art community.
I was drawing cartoon OCs of my own since 2003, but only very occasionally; sometimes weeks apart. In 2011, I was a very different person than what I am today. My circumstances back then was influencing who I was. I first heard of Angry Birds in late 2010, then I learned a lot more about it in 2011. After hating on the game, I started playing the PC version. Little that I know by doing so would define what I would become today!
It wasn't instant. I would still be a pointless echo chamber throughout 2012. But during that year I was able to establish a good relationship with Rovio via Facebook, and whilst I had ups and downs, I became a huge fan of Angry Birds; in fact one of the world's biggest fans!
Add to that, I was making plenty of fan art, and making Angry Birds characters of my own, including my own birdsona Walter the Stinkbird. Another thing that would be a big influence was Rovio's April Fools' joke from 2012: the Skunkbird. It's the reason I got more into skunks!
I was drawing OCs in general more often as well, and was able to create a character that ultimately became my first "fursona": Walter the Rat. In 2013, I started to become a different person, but not before I got drowned in anxiety from who I was before.
I started to back away from Angry Birds during 2013 and 2014, but was still engaging with the franchise and with Rovio. I even won a contest where the prize was a signed Angry Birds Friends poster. I somehow missed that email though, and when I eventually discovered it months later, Rovio sent me an Angry Birds comic book instead, which I still have today. By the end of 2014, with all the motivation from Angry Birds, my OCs and other interests, I had joined DeviantArt and the art community, and ultimately, the furry fandom.
In April 2015, I officially moved away from Angry Birds, and started focusing solely on my OCs. The rest is history.
Angry Birds influenced my daily life, my art presence and a portion of my character designs. How I draw eyebrows on my OCs is directly derived from Angry Birds! The whole franchise shaped who I am today! Without Angry Birds and all of the other crazy stuff happening throughout the late-2000s and early-2010s, ToonThick and all its predecessors would never have existed, even before all the stuff that I went through during the first half of 2014 where I nearly kicked the bucket, as well as what happened on DeviantArt in August 2015, and other demotivating stuff over the years.
Angry Birds laid the foundation for what would become ToonThick. I would otherwise have been nothing more than an a-hole mimicking other a-holes, and would probably be long gone.
