It's another piece inspired by a song this week - and this time, it's one of my favourites, Dark Lady by Cher. Part of that song involves the title character performing a spot of cartomancy - she is said to have drawn a Queen, a Three and a Jack. The song itself doesn't specify the suits, but the music video reveals she drew a Queen and Three of Spades, and a Jack of Clubs. Being the sort of person I am, I once looked up the meanings of the various cards in cartomancy, to see if they lined up with the reading given in the song - and without giving anything away, it's a pretty close match.
Anyway, I had to do something with my newfound knowledge, and for some reason this was the idea that came to mind. Technically, I could have used any combination of characters for this one, but I settled on Dexter and Abby Clapton for no other reason than that I really wanted to draw Abby in a fortune teller's outfit - I know I'm kinda leaning into the stereotype here, but I just couldn't help myself.
