My observations of the relevant material led me to conclude that the Island of Sodor would be the best option for applying the plot of Day of Disaster for the PAW Patrol series.
Tuck and Ella were initially going to have less involvement, but my fondness for macro/micro material and the prospect of further integration of the two franchises made me conclude that a short sideshow of character interaction would help balance out the tedious part of gradual wreckage removal. I originally had it so Cranky and Carly were partly dismantled and relocated for the initial recovery effort, but after some consideration decided it would make more sense for the rail-bound heavy cranes to participate, though it was still essential for there to be a red-shirt crane.
The final scene on Sodor might come across as having rather an abrupt ending, but I felt like I was already overdoing the way the aftermath was progressing when I saw the word count. This is also why the final scene is somewhat brief by literary standards.
About the use of morse code in the scene transitions: The one just after the synopsis is the original Thunderbirds episode name, not a location in the story.

You know using the Island of Sodor for this setting reminds me of a story on FA I read a while ago. Where they used all the characters from the island of sodor but the trains were all dragons, and their personalities were amplified to fit them as dragons. I thought it was a super cool and unique idea but it's a shame the author never finished it because the stories were doing so well
