Downtown Dallas Sunset

Coming out of my friend's apartment and got up on top of the car-garage thing walking to my car and I saw this, thankfully I had my DSLR handy.

Balanced my camera and lens on the corner where the hand railing intersected for 3 points of balance. Used neck strap doubled over to support lens and hands beneath in case it slipped off.

Nikon D70, shot at F/22 with 10 second exposure.

Thanks. For a change, I was in the right place at the right time, had my camera ready, and the sky didn't disappear in 5 minutes like it did the last 8 times i tried to capture a pretty sunset like this.

Gosh it's even more than the sky really! All of the colors here, from the orange/red at the bottom fading to that lovely blue, so rich and deep in color against the contrast of the city it's just so mouthwatering to those who can appreciate a good mix of things <3

Admittedly i did 'enhance it' in photoshop a little, no major modifications just adjusted levels with the camera-raw tool, pulled up blacks so the lower part was darker, and pulled up saturation a little so the sky looked blue-er, sky was already blue, i just helped it look a little more noticeably blue, I think it looks good ^^

Nice! Downtown Dallas does look cool at night.
Looks like this shot was taken in the "Deep Ellum" area?

I think so, I'm not entirely sure where my friend lives... I usually visit at night and I just follow the GPS to get there and follow it to get out... and this was on top of his car-park / car-garage. I don't know what part of Dallas it is, I live in south Irving, and I just go there and go out and only pay attention to what's necessary to get there and get home, really.

This is the part of Dallas with those weird large metal sculptures if that means anything, I remember seeing those there.

I see. It looks like the Deep Ellum area. I be pushing it if I said its the Fair Park area.
I have a friend that lives in the east Dallas area not so far from downtown. I live in Lancaster.
"Weird metal sculptures"?
That robot that comes out of the ground a little at a time? Has a guitar and birds around it?

Large metal man thing on the ground laying on it's side i think. If i ever go back in the daytime i'll make it a point to photo it and post here. I always feel like a tourist when i photo some random landmark though and don't usually post things like that.

Ok then,then we're on the same page! You just saw only one phase of that sculpture. He's on Good Lathimer rd. I think it starts on "Main or Elm st.". As you go toward "Live Oak,the robot comes out of the ground a little at a time as you go farther up the street.
He has little chrome metal birds around him. I call them "twitter birds"! This art was finished in 2009.
Take some to go through downtown Dallas! Its full of art! Plus downtown has been improved in the past decade. Before then,it was rather dead and trashy.

i got lost going through downtown once and went around in circles 8 times because GPS wanted me to turn onto a one way road the wrong way... i hate down town, i was too busy getting the heck out of there to notice any art, and the roads are in horrible shape most of the time.

You gotta know where you're going, when you're downtown! The streets curve too much for my own liking.
There's too much construction going on and too many street signs!
Its best to take in the sites by foot. "Deep Ellum" is more like an arts district. Get your friend to show you around!
