this day i finally finished reading the aria of the goldberg variations! a pretty big deal for me personally, as the goldbergs have quite the reputation as being some of the most difficult piano repertoir one can tackle. Of course this is absoluetely the case if one aims to play the full cycle of pieces (Aria + 30 variations on the bass notes)
But some of the variations as standalone are actually pretty approachable for piano hobbyists/amateurs such as myself!
I would never try to tackle the full set, but knowing that I can at least decently play the aria already makes me feel quite accomplished <3
trying to learn the first variaiton after the aria, and oh man is it fun to play :3
donkey thinks about and loves the sound of the aria when plays it ... js bach might be the closest i ever really get to idolizing anything
the contrapunctal complexity of his compositions is truly unparalleled
