I like how the different species are blending together - though I can imagine this leading to some VERY awkward conversations if the kid "looks different than the parents"...

(Also, now I wonder how their society works. On the one hand, I imagine they got tolerant of "patchwork families" a lot earlier than our societies, as it's basically impossible to hide that your family is one. On the other hand, I could see some conservative/aristocrat families becoming "specicist" and trying even more desperately to "save their reputation" - by hiding away kids with the "wrong" species in boarding schools or downright expelling them)
