I made this part of the story since May 9, 2024, and it’s just the only chapter I made and that’s enough. It’s kinda like an example of this illustration of this story I made for fun. Ya’ Know, transformation and all. And it’s loosely based on The a Boy who Cried Wolf.
You know the tale of the Boy who Cried Wolf? Ya know, that story where the boy keeps on lying about there being a wolf, and eventually everyone gets tired of it and doesn't believe him when there really is a wolf? Well, there’s a twist with another story and another, but make it more like new tale about a Boy, a Watchdog, and the Wolf.
Jayson, a twelve year old boy who ran away after he saw the wolf caught the little lamb and grandpa won't believe, so does his parents, and top it off, he's grounded for irresponsible for not watch the flock very well despite that Jayson did very well. He found himself in a forest, all alone. Suddenly, a strange Newfoundland dog approached him. The dog had fur so thick that it looked like he weighed a ton. "Tried to run away from your problems, so disappointing. But I do believe you about what happened about the wolf.” Jayson was shocked that the dog could talk. The dog introduced himself as Shamus. "You see, Jayson, I am not just any dog. I am a Watchdog, a guardian of the field. I’m here to protect this place from harm, and that includes wolves."
“Okay, this is weird,” Jayson thought to himself as he looked at Shamus. He was about to say something else when Shamus spoke again, "I was being mystical. You the one who running away because you hate your family and the punishment must be served,” Shamus explained. Jayson was taken aback by the dog's accuracy. "W-well, no, I don't hate them. It's just that... they don't understand me. And grandpa keeps saying that I'm irresponsible, even though I did everything right!" He paused, feeling a lump in his throat. "And I'm grounded for the rest of the week, too!"
Shamus gave him a sympathetic look. "Ah, Jayson. I've seen this story before. You're just a young'un who's telling lies about wolf. But in real life, you did telling the truth, but you hate your family because you think they don't understand you. I’ve always watching everything and heard everything. You're just a boy who wants to be heard, you know?" He paused, then added, "It's not easy being a kid, is it?"
“Whatever,” Jayson muttered, not really sure how to respond to Shamus. He was right, of course. But it didn't make him feel any better. “If you’re a wild dog, can you bite me get out of my misery!” he joked, half-heartedly. He walked away, but Shamus stopped him with twos paws placed in his Shoulders.
Shamus looked at him with a grin, “Oh I’m not a wild dog, I’m a watchdog.” He continued. “In fact, I’m here to be able to change your fate, boy. The wolf is still have the lamb, and kept it in his den.” Shamus paused for a moment, then continued, in a more serious tone, "But the order to do this quest, I must turn you into a dog.”
Jayson's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Turn me into a dog? Why? How?"
"It's simple, really," Shamus replied, motioning for Jayson to follow him. "Just look at me.” He barked rhythmically, swaying his head from side to side. Even his tail began to wag rhythmically. Jayson felt something change himself into a dog. His fur began to grow, his ears stood up, and his tail began to wag as well. "There you go," Shamus said, patting him on the head.
“What?” Jayson yipped, looking at himself in disbelief. He was a dog now, a collie to be precise. His fur was thick and silky, and his ears perked up at the tips. He tried to bark, but it came out more like a yip. "What did you do to me?" he asked, turning to Shamus.
“Oh I just transformed you into a dog, that's all. You're now a collie, to be precise. You can thank me later for this new form. It'll make it much easier for you to get close to the wolf and his lair. But You will be turn back to yourself as a boy, after a week, like you said, Correct?” “Yeah,” Jayson said. “That makes it whole lot better for being a dog as punishment. So yeah. Seems fair.” “Good boy. Right now, it’s getting late, we got to get the my home,” Shamus explained.
Jayson complained, “Oh it’s not fair.” “Wait, there is just one more thing before I'm forget,” Shamus interrupted. “Since I turn you into a dog, we have to do a proper greetings. You must sniff my butt.”
“Uh what?” Jayson yipped, feeling a little confused. He wasn't sure why he had to sniff Shamus' butt, but he figured it must be some sort of dog thing. “It’s a dog thing,” Shamus explained. “It's how we greet each other and show respect. So, go ahead, give it a sniff.”
“Ew, no,” Jayson refused. “I won’t sniff it, I know where is been.”
“Come one, Sniff it,” Shamus taunting him with shaking his butt. “It won't hurt you. Now, sniff away and show some respect." Jayson hesitated for a moment but eventually relented. He lowered his head and sniffed Shamus' behind, feeling a little embarrassed. “There you go. Now let me smell yours,” Shamus said, and Jayson turned around, presenting his tail. Shamus sniffed it carefully and nodded approvingly. “Smells good,” Shamus sighed. “Now then, let’s go. Follow my lead.”
With that, they set off together, Shamus leading the way. They walked out from the forest and there’s an old home which is old cottage on the hill. There is a garden full of vegetable and fruits. In front of the cottage, there is a small river with a wooden bridge across it. Shamus wag his tail and lead Jayson toward the river.
