After Stitch managed to escape his cell, he figured that if he kept on getting bigger, he would eventually outgrow the ship. As a precautionary measure, Gantu ejected Stitch off into space to avoid any possible structural damage. With the containment liquid hose still attached to the escaped experiment's suit, that action removed any restraints on how huge 626 could become. Guess it's only limited by the space suit's structural integrity...
