Another of the drawings I started during my bunny themed Picarto stream. One of the most influential comics in the anthro and independent comic scene is Usagi Yojimbo. Link
For many people this was their introduction to the anthro community and over the decades its creator Stan Sakai has received numerous awards and accolades for his work. Also he's a very charming individual.
So here he is ready to face his opponent with the Tokage lizard that followed him for many, many issues.

Love the character's friendship with Leo and the rest of the TMNT. One of my favourite collaborations between Sakai and the Mirage guys is a story Peter Laird did about Usagi and Leo duelling in a river, loosely based on the story of how Robin Hood met Frier Tuck.
You're welcome. One of the things we enjoyed about going to SDCC was dropping by Stan's booth, and even though we hadn't talked since last year and even though Stan would meet thousands of people that weekend he would ask about projects we'd discussed with him the year before. If you talk him and respect him he'll really listen to you. Great guy.
He is so personable and has a marvelous memory. I've only met him a half-dozen times over more than 20 years, but whenever he sees me, he immediately calls me by name, asks about personal details, and so on, just as you said. I'm envious of his ability to keep so much in his head!
It's great work. I can remember when Usagi was appearing in Critters and Albedo. Great to see the success Stan got with him. Though part of me wishes that Vicky Wyman and Xanadu could have experienced even a fraction of that sort of success. Nothing against Stan, mind, but how many great artists and stories did we have 'back innaday' who are all but forgotten now?
