So I decided I'd take a character I wasn't feeling in an eternally-in-progress comic of mine and change his animal to a silkie (also known as black chicken). And then it was like he was fully formed and suddenly my favorite character in the whole thing.
This was done really quickly so that I wouldn't lose the idea, but I'd really dig feedback on his mouth area -- I SUCK at traditional beaks (which sucks because I love birds and wish I could make more bird characters), so I put the top part of his beak on and then gave him teeth and a bottom lip. I figured it'd make expressions a lot easier, but if it's too awkward let me know prease.
Also, the blue accenting = the bane of my existence.
But yeah. Meet Abe. If I ever get this comic off the ground, he'll be there.

But silkies are so neat! Look at them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silkie
And yeah, I've been trying to figure out a better beak method -- I just keep getting frustrated and throwing my sketchbook across the room. But that's not exclusive to beaks.
