COMMISSIONS/TRADES - Lexis
Whew- finally got it colored. I SWEAR SHE IS NOT THAT ORANGE. My scanner just was not having it with the copic marker colors I used, and no amount of tweaking in Photoshop could balance it out enough to make it look like it really does on paper.
Anyhoo- finally finished owed art for
dingobones of her dingo gal, Lexi. Done in copic markers and pigma ink on 90 lb drawing paper, with a little backdrop tossed together in Photoshop CS3.

It looks lovely to me! I think you matched her russet pelt color well, and I love the shading! It's warm and vibrant...not muddy and washed out, and you and I talked about how hard it is to shade a warm color like Lexi's here without making it look just dull in the dark parts. I especially like the dark maroonish shading in the red of her hair and how it really makes the blue of the feather and her ribbon pop.
Altogether, just a really pleasing to look at piece. It's a fun pose, an adorable and lively expression, and the colors really work well together. This was definitely a wonderful thing to see in my inbox tonight!

I really appeeciate you suggesting the crockery blue color for some of the deeper shadows, because everything else I tried either looked too muddy, or else completely unnatural. I tried to do the majority of my shading by just constantly blending 3 different 'oranges' into one another over and over, to help reduce the amount of blue shadows I'd have to put in later, just in case it didn't look right in heavy amounts.
Anyway, I always greatly appreciate your feedback!

oh my I could just explode with joy! The color job on her is amazing so I dont know what chu talkin bout! The orange you used contrasts very well with her hair and the hints of blue in the image. The colors of her outfit also tie everything together. Green and black is one of my fav color combinations. You are an art wizard. I just love this so much! thank you!
