The Kalscorff Astro Mining Company decided to remove restrooms to save money, and left their miners diapered instead. Naturally, they needed an AI to change diapers. So, being cheapskates who didn't want to alter code, they installed a nanny AI. The AI was quick to close off the station from the outside, and started babying the crew. Not that they seem to mind, they are still getting their paychecks, after all.
