Asheru's Journey Part 3 Page 10
People have been asking about the back story for Asheru and My lupines. So far I haven't posted it, as they stories were collected in the 'Zine "Huzzah!" which ceased publication in 2003. I do not have any of the original digital files, so I deferred posting anything. But since coming to FA, I have received numerous requests, I decided I could probably post scans of the original Zine pages, One may recognize some of the original images in my old Yerf Archive. others in ArtSpots but many were sketches and only appeared as spot illustrations.
Part three appeared in issue #46 of Huzzah! in mid 2002, and chronicles the party's journey East.

Just read through the latest installment. I'm feeling a bit guilty about making any comments on the previous ones!
I'm quite enjoying the story and the format, and of course the artwork. I enjoy the fact that the story seems to be two parts diplomacy and intrigue to one part action. It lends a more realistic air to the plot and (especially in a furry 'zine in 2002) shows uncommon cohesion between furry and human characters.
If I have one gripe, it's the fact that Magnus is just such an obvious vector for the readers' (and the characters') anger and antagonism. I get that he's a douche, but at least so far he hasn't surprised anyone with nobler qualities, and I think it would be more realistic that even an antagonistic character has some positive, logical reasoning behind his decisions. Then again, I might be premature- there's more to come, eh?

Well, I reqlly don't have that sort of time. But I would probably charge standard rate, which is 90 per page, per pass, and each pass would be pencilling, inking and tones or color.I used to work in the comic industry and am a little gunshy/burned, but it could be possible.
Standard rate. A comic book page is 10 inches by 15 inches, consists of between 4 and 9 panels of art, with backgrounds and word balloons that need to be penciled, Inked, toned/colored and lettered. The only thing these days that would motivate me to do comics again is to get professional scale wages per page to do comics again. Right now I am doing 3D that pays fairly well on the side, and I have a crappy day job that eats most of my time. I'm not saying "no" but I am saying this is not a hobby, for me, and that my time and skill is valuable.
nice story I like the digest feel to it. I love the design and style of your characters. I've been reading this since you started posting them and look forward to them when ever they come out. Though I think it could use a little bit of polish in Adobe In-Design or Quark Express considering the format. none the less it is still a good digest illustration that would fit nicely into a periodical for short stories ^^
good job and keep um' coming. you have a reader in me =3

I have some bad news for you though. Next weekend is the last installment. The magazine that printed these originally folded with Issue 50, and the last submission was Issue 49.
these were originally done in JUST Adobe Photoshop between 2000 and 2003. just layers and text layers.

I know that pain, I grew into that phase. its like i ruined my own story by flipping to the back cover and read the last chapter before I ever wrote it. I used too muscle threw the overall lack of motivation and work on my stories in smaller chunks by telling myself how each chapter would end. That worked for a while but I can't just turn off the eyes and let the fingers do the walking anymore.
Well either way if you can get another story like this off the ground at least you know you have an audience for it ^^ . Keep up the good work man!

Thank you for those words. learning to draw her, was a byproduct of an anatomy for animators class at work around 1999. taight by She4ldon borenstein. She was also the product of Quake 2, and a complaint by a friend that I never drew curvy, cutestuff, just angry donsosaurs in straights lines.
She waqs cute and appealing enough that I kept drawing her, even after I finished the animation, and continues to flesh out her world and characters. These days it has gotten a bit baroque, with playing the world as a private RP world, and from that came the other caracters Like Niloupar, and Soraya from that.

Love the first pic of Asheru brushing out her tail, Simple scene, but very cool.
Guess Mangus has picked up human modesty as well as our other habits.
Also, I am seriously hoping there are some Jackal tribes out there in the desert.....
BTW-totally unrelated question - Is that a LeMat revolver you're holding in your icon pic?

Magnus, and the other Civilized Lupines were raised in the shadow and blessings of the Imperial Civilization. He reads, likes baths, wears clothing, goes to worship on the end cap of the week, and belives himself to be the epitome of civilization. Part of it is Modesty, and part of it is making sure he never looks like some shaggy undressed barbarian. He may be a lupine, but He's not one of "those" lupines. "even though his family and tribe are just 200 some odd years from being slightly less than where Asheru's family is. Trading Tribe for individual agency, gave them civilization, but also social isolation on occasion.
Not as such. she might fit the model but for her the romance wasn't within the party, but where they ended up. Duty would have her leave, and guide the humans back to the empire to tell the empire about a threat from the near east (And figuring out what that threat should be is what stumped me, and continues to stall the story to this day)

yeah yeah... I know, but it had to be a specific threat, because the point was to show that good teamwork and integration militarily between the Humans and Lupines to defeat the threat. Lupine speed and senses linked with Human strength and Ranged weapons, and brains overcomes the threat. That little Fortified Village was to have endured and , perhaps thrived, for about two centuries under "pressure" and I couldnt figure out the detail of what they overcame.
