"Look up there, Mother!" The young Baderas cried, pointing his wing to the horizon. Adéna turned and saw two Sarai locked in an elegant dance in the sky, their movements graceful and slow as they swooped and dived to try to catch one another. It was a game she knew well, one she often played with others as a child, and these Saria were as young and joyful as she had been, with little care for the world around them. She hoped desperately that this was a good indication that their clan was free of the Kaizuran Sickness.
"They look just like you" Said Baderas, watching their movements with fascination.
“They are your kin as well, my son” She said solemnly.
Baderas looked over at his own wings and then down to his scaled feet, “But I don’t look anything like them”
Adéna felt a wave of pride overcome her, a love for her kin she hadn’t felt in an age, “Shepherd blood runs through your veins, and to us, Shepherd blood is kin, no matter what you look like or where you come from” The pride was quickly replaced by sadness as she thought of her next words, “You will always have a home among our kind”
Baderas looked worried for a moment, picking up his mothers regret, “Then can we go to them? Can we have a home with them, instead of out here in the wilderness?”
Adéna turned away and sighed, continuing her walk back up the hill, “Maybe some day you will, my son, but for now we are safer on our own path”

Illustration piece for my story, The Prophet of Usula. I've really missed drawing scenes from my story and I'm really hoping to be able to draw a lot more in future.
