So this is what she'd been working on...
Yep! I've been quiet, partially because I'm working on commissions from Furnal Equinox. This is a huge undertaking I'm very happy I took on from
, he wanted a big commission from me, after seeing my book of art at the Con, and after a chat on what I enjoyed doing, we decided on this general setting.
I decided I wanted to do a different take on him than other people have done. Quite a few people have done an amazing job in quite a few different styles (for any skill level, a silver, mirror-finish dragon is a challenge), but I wanted to put him into my dragon style, which is more storybook and not a little influenced by Disney's Sleeping Beauty and Malificent. The rest came together as I worked through it.
I, as a highly self critical person, have several things I'm not happy with, but Silvax loves it very much, and that's all that matters, as he is the one that paid me for it. Looking back on it now, I do really like how cute it turned out, and I think I did pretty good for my first try at a big commission like this.
Um- note to any dragon lovers out there, NO CLUE which style dragon he's supposed to be for the species tag, so I used other, if anyone knows for sure that its one of the others, I'll change it appropriately.
This took, close to 20 hours? My husband keep much better time, as I get absorbed into my art and don't pay very good attention to time at all, so I'm going with his estimate.
Medium is bristol board with markers and coloured pencils with some poster pens by sharpie for the highlights.
Comments always welcome, but if you want to help out, constructive comments only please- no bashing without letting me know what you find wrong with it.

(Yes I take commissions for stuff like this, I love doing traditional colour commissions, and would be more than happy to chat with you about price)

Thanks so much! It's my first big commission and my first dragon since I did a series for my husband ( who is in fact my DM). I'm so glad I apparently did pretty well!
And thanks on the trees! I used a lot of my rendering skills from my irl career in Interior Design. I love drawing and being in nature. >^.^< I'm glad it shows through in some way.
Dragons are a lot of fun to work on- hopefully I get more commissions of them in the future!

Dragons are my main subject of drawing lol they're so fun to play with <3 Unfortunately I run out of pose ideas really fast so I'm sure my stuff all looks the same. To me they're all different due to being different personality wise and such, though
I might have to use your trees for reference if that's okay. I can only draw ones without leaves right now

I figured that out when I looked at it lol I just needed something to base it off of. My trees are...well odd

You're doing pretty good! Just add foliage with it! I like your bark lines and the way you draw the limbs. A good method is to use something to "dab" the leaves on with your tool, and then layer the colours. You can also do this with digital brushes, but markers work good IRL.
ohh! If you do watercolour, that will be even easier. Paints perfect for the "stippling" affect for the leaves. If you use watercolour, you just may want to use a softer colour to ink the lines on the trunk, to make everything more uniform.
I've been discovering that I'd probably do a lot better with paint, but I'm too lazy and cheap to invest in it XD So I'm making due with the mediums I have.

*smiles* as I said before. Every version someone does of me is me. I have lots of reference material on my FA for the purpose.
I would never make someone draw me the same way all the time. Its not fair to the artist, and its not fair to demand such. Hell I can't even draw very well.
I said it once and I will say it again. Its been a pleasure in the process and the outcome is very wonderful.
Thats just like what my irl cat does to me each night when I goto bed. Such a cute effect.
My dear this is a wonderful rendition. Thank you so much. I do it very much.

<3<3 I'm very happy to hear it. *hugs* That's the most important part of the commission, and I had to remind myself of that as I was finishing it. XD
I feel bad that it took me so long to finish, I really didn't intend to take so long with it, but darned if IRL doesn't get in the way of the best intentions. :/
I'm pretty darn proud of how you in particular turned out, and I'm glad I've got a few other opinions to remind myself I'm much to critical of my own work.
That and I loved working on this. I REALLY hope to get more large commissions like this in the future, as I do enjoy the challenge.
