This is probably one of the most detailed pieces I've done in a good while, maybe even ever. XD It's still a little rushed in terms of lighting, but overall I'm proud of it. :3
At first I was listening to "Scotland's Shame" by Mogwai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8KFMoVG1Y4 and had the idea of that one grumpy-looking Itanta walking down the street. Then I thought of Blade Runner and the Hengsha area from Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I figured it'd be neat to throw that in.
Many Itanta come from overcrowded cities like this one, those are the ones that have grey fur. The one on the right with brown fur was born on the desert planet of Jovin, and has brought some classic delicacies with him to sell on the streets. :3

I so enjoy this, and you know why? Because I've been in some sorta at least, 'mean streets' in a few countries... and always, no matter what, in every set o' mean streets, there's always this little well-lit place that's a pharmacy or a little humble but good restaurant, or a little shop selling whatever, and it's like little havens and spots of light where everyone goes to eventually, little spots of light and life. Though admittedly I may be interpreting this 'mean streets' term too far, but like, I looove to go visit the little places in those areas, they seem like havens and often have rare and excellent things to eat, buy or just see. c8
I really love the ambiance of this. :) Definitely has that Blade Runnery sorta feel to it that I really enjoy. The contrast of lighting between the dark streets and bright storefronts like little islands of safety or something is really neat. Like the stuff Kurra already said more eloquently. ;) Really neat work!
