Fan/gift art for atomicdog. I had this image in my head for a long time, but it ended up a little differently than I had imagined. When I sat down to do it and got the pencils done, I just went right on to painting without inking (which I have otherwise been religiously doing lately, being afraid of losing my lines under the paint), and then I didn't outline the figure with additional paint. It felt right with a more watercolory feel. I didn't add a background, which I had originally imagined-- she was going to be in a bunker, a good-natured survivalist, with, say, guns and tubs of wheat, and alcohol, comic books, a Teddy bear, ammo, water, condoms, and anything else you need to sit out the coming zombie apocalypse. The figure came out just as I'd been seeing her-- well, almost-- and I penciled in where the background of the basement would go, and then it just... stopped and became this.
I really like this.
The Pyro doll is one I seem to remember her posting about at some point, and when I went searching to find out what a blue pyro should look like, lo and behold, I believe I found a photo of the actual doll, and I had a blast interpreting him with a little worried face.
Acrylic on watercolor paper. Character referenced from atomicdog's gallery.

Omg, I'm seriously going to cry.
This is friggin wonderful! Just so many elements of things that I like. That pyro doll. I can't believe you remembered that. My little bab ;.;
I really love how you used traditional media on this. It's spectacular. How large is this in person?

I'm moved that you like it that much! Thanks for the wonderful comments. I think the original is a wee bit smaller than the fullsize upload.
'k I just measured it and it's about 7 and 3/4" by 3 1/2", give or take a little roughness around the edges. (I didn't know the exact specs 'cause I had it mapped out according to plan and then it just went spontaneously).
I'm addicted to traditional media, which is probably for the best since I suck at digital. Suck spectacularly.
Thanks again. :)

Thank you for the kind words. :) I love to know when I've tapped into something important. I admit I'm pretty fond of this pic, myself.
And I thought I'd have to wing it on the Pyro doll, because I knew there had been one, but I couldn't find a post about it... and then just Googling for blue pyros I was so jazzed to find the photo of the doll. I had this image in mind for so long that at some point it changed from being a plush bear to being a Pyro, because of your post about him, I think!
