The first frame is some photos I mashed together quickly. If I don't have an idea going in sometimes I'll do photoshop wizardry with random photos until a cool composition comes out then I paint on top of it.
Sometimes I make simple gray shapes then introduce color later. Story>composition though. Story>composition>drawing>color. Something like that.
