Recently a number of digital artists have been experimenting with traditional paints lately, and Merlin also did this. I was asked to pick a character, and I chose Terry. This afternoon a package arrived containing the finished piece, a 7x9 portrait of him looking really happy.
I wasn't sure whether a flatbed scan or a photo would be best, but simply scanning it turned out pretty well.

i need to get some nice sponges for blending, every time i look at those highlights i remember my fingers being covered in paint from blending them with my fingers
