Are you a commissioner who regularly needs to find OCs to pair your characters with? Are you a critter with OCs you'd like to see show up in commissions? I'm putting together some resources to make those collaborations easier!
Here's how it'll work:
1. You make a public post somewhere with your preferences about which characters you allow commissioners to use with whatever restrictions you'd like. That can include pred/prey designation, fatal/endo preferences, requests to ask pawmission, you can even restrict your characters to only SFW pieces!
2. Fill out https://tally.so/r/J9k88r and send me a link to your post (and a few other details like contact info).
3. If it's a good fit for commissioners, I'll add a link and reference to your character on my commissioner site (https://foxyoreos.netlify)! <3
4. Commissioners who want to find characters to work with can look through references and check your permissions!
And that's basically it! Because you'll be hosting your own permissions page, you can have pretty much anything you'd like on it, and you can update it whenever you'd like. And if I don't decide to list the page on my own site, you'll still have a public set of instructions on how to use your OCs (which I can say from experience, artists do look for <3).
UwU Time for some questions!
1. Why does the post have to be public? What does "public" mean exactly?
Linking to a public post on one of your own galleries solves a lot of problems for me. It makes identity verification easier (I know that it's you submitting the post, because only you have access to your own gallery <3). It means I don't have to come up with one format for everyone, you have complete freedom to set up your permissions however you'd like and to update them whenever you'd like. And it means I don't have to worry as much about gatekeeping, if I decide your characters aren't a great fit for my content restrictions or the types of commissions I usually do, your page will still be public and anyone will still be able to see it and use those characters.
By "public", I mean that your OC permissions and some kind of visual representation of your character should be visible:
- from a webbrowser
- without logging into a website
That last point is really important. Not all of my commissioners have accounts on every website, and I want to prioritize OCs that I know that all of them can see without needing to use any specific service. Note that this means that if your Furaffinity account is restricted from logged out users you'll have to find another place to post it, and that if your OC references contain NSFW you'll have to have them linked somewhere else other than just on FA.
I recommend https://sonasky.app/ if you're on Bluesky, a public post on Mastodon, or a gallery that doesn't require login to view NSFW, such as Aryion, Itaku, SoFurry (use direct links to the submission page for this) or a self-hosted gallery. Sites like Weasyl and Furaffinity are great if your refs are SFW and can be viewed without logging in! <3
However, ultimately, this is your OC information, so while I won't be including links to OCs that require a login to view, you don't have to listen to anything I'm saying here - you can still share your preferences with anyone you'd like and still include links anywhere you'd like.
2. What information should I include?
There's no hard list I'm looking for, but I would recommend being specific. If your OC is SFW only, mention that! <3 If they are pred or prey-only, that's good info to have too. The submission form will list a few other suggestions you might want to take a look at :3
What I would recommend against is a permission form that just says, "anything goes." The reason is that my commissioners and I might have much broader definitions than you of what "anything" is! >w< Remember that I sometimes draw fatal vore, graphic digestion, noncon, and disposal/scat/watersports. If you really mean anything at all, make that really clear - otherwise boundaries are always good to include.
3. Can I request that commissioners get my permission on a case by case basis?
Absolutely! That's a totally reasonable thing to include. <3
I'll ask you for contact information when you submit your link (remember that I'm not on Twitter/Discord! :3) What I would recommend is also to include some other way to contact you that commissioners can use themselves. Remember that ideally other artists than just me will be able to use this info! :3
It's okay if your contact method is behind a login wall as long as I have access to the site - commissioners who don't have access can float their ideas to me and I can ask you on their behalf.
4. How often will my OC get used?
I have no idea! *silly fox noises*
Ultimately it'll be up to commissioners who are looking for OCs to include to pick out who they want to use. Getting your characters listed isn't a guarantee that they will show up in any artwork, it's just you giving permission and guidance about where they can appear.
5. Will this give me input over the finished art? Will I be able to post it?
Not unless the commissioner agrees - these will still be *their* pieces. I will however cite your characters and let you know about the piece, and send you a link to the finished deliverable. This is another reason why it's important that if you submit a character, that I be able to contact you. UwU
6. I know another critter/artist allows their characters to be used, can I submit a link to their page?
NO, please do not.
This is a strictly opt-in system, I do not want links submitted that belong to 3rd-parties without their explicit request to be included.
7. Can I remove permissions later?
Yes, there are two ways to accomplish this:
- First, you can simply delete your own public post. At some point I'll notice that the link goes to a dead page and I'll remove it from my site.
- Second, you can use the same form listed above (https://tally.so/r/J9k88r) to request that I remove your page even if you're leaving your permissions publicly accessible.
8. I want to use an OC that's not submitted, is that still allowed?
Yes, my rules about 3rd-party OCs haven't changed - regardless of whether they have links submitted to this, you can use them.. if you have their explicit permission and can prove that you do.
I'm really proud of how great the community I'm in is about respecting consent and making sure that everypony feels comfortable at all times. <3 As long as you're paying attention to consent and being proactive about making sure everypony you work with wants to be part of your commission, I'm happy. UwU
9. When will this actually show up on the commissioner site?
Whenever I have enough submissions to make it worth setting up a page and have some time to do it :3c

Pretty much!
Although I'd actually recommend listing your preferences in a furaffinity journal. I know that you tend to lean SFW only so it won't be a problem for logged out viewers to see your journal/refs, and it'll mean that you'll be able to update your preferences more easily and won't have to deal with Bluesky's character limits.
Once you've done that, just fill out https://tally.so/r/J9k88r <3
