FÜRNI, a Scandinavian furniture and homeware megastore where even the returned products come with suspiciously specific assembly instructions. A warehouse worker is repackaging a yin-yang coffee table when he realizes the manual does not match the furniture at all.
By the final page, the instructions stop describing a table and start describing him. His body begins folding into a new shape like flat-pack biology: arms softening into pectoral fins, legs merging into a felt tail, skin giving way to plush fabric, and his eyes becoming stitched black dots. Human anatomy is quietly discontinued and replaced with mascot-grade softness.
The absurd horror of retail logistics — mysterious boxes, impossible manuals, mascot culture, and the feeling that somewhere in the warehouse, a product has been waiting to assemble you. What begins as a routine return becomes a full-body conversion into FÜRNI’s unofficial stuffed shark icon.
By the time the other employees arrive, the cardboard has collapsed, the furniture is crushed, and a massive life-size plush mackerel shark is sprawled across the boxes. The product was not defective after all. It just needed a new display model~
