a strange occurence

trying to work on my values. a scene from my pen and paper group. we found a giant hammerhead shark on the beach, turned out to be the work of an alcoholic fisherman trying to bring back fame to the family name by finding the biggest fish. he used alchemie to size up the shark. kinda a tragic story!

tho, it is a very magical realism setting, with rare and quite dangerous magic system (every spell has an equal level event happening, some good and bad, but always chaotic, it really sells why the common people dont use magic! also no reviving lol)
i want to talk so much about it but have to bite my tongue because its such a long project yet to come but...! its gonna be awesome :3
even choosing to make everyone, even the giant shark small in the overall picture, i think it helps. not trying to do the most gore up fest imagniable but stepping back and seeing so many creature on the beach, and most dead, thats i think its own narrative.
I think choosing a black/white format also plays a part in making the image feel more emotive. Amazing story telling through your artwork, be it a tragedy or a happy ender! You know how to touch people's emotions.
