The first (and best cuz Buttercup rules!) of a 3 series.
An amusing thought occurred to me with the release of PPGZ coming up. 'Superheros' seem like an American original. I mean, I know every culture has them. But most of them aren't called 'Super' anything. They're dieties or demons or holy people or magical creatures.
So, I got to thinking; What might the Powerpuff girls be if they weren't 'superheros'? I took one creature from European legend and one from the oriental legend. Here's the first of what I've gotten.
Buttercup as the elusive unicorn. She's solitary, uncatchable, quiet (after all, Blossom gabs enough for everyone.) and mysterious. Unicorns can be gentle or pretty darn mean depending on the stories you've read. Besides, she just looks kyoot this way.
Here we have a 9-tail fox; the Japanese Kyubi no kitsune. Kitsunes are known to be tricksters of good or bad intentions. Buttercup can usually fit both roles when she chooses. For those myth buffs out there, yes I know Buttercup is too young to be a kyubi and she wouldn't be green. But a fox spirit just fit her so well. Like the unicorn form, I found this one too kyoot not to draw.
