My bf has a rat, I had never been around one before. Can't believe I never had one as a pet! I was surprised to see a rodent that wasn't constantly trying to get away from me, like a gerbil or a degu.

Oh gosh he only has one? Rats should always be in at least pairs. They're extremely social creatures, and having one by itself can be very traumatizing, no matter how much attention you give them.

Well, since we moved into an apartment fairly recently, the rat's been at a friend's house, who also has a rat. There's a no-rat policy at the place for some reason.

Aw, that's terrible! Rats are awesome. Mine were always clean, they used their litterbox, and they loved goin' for rides on your shoulder. :3
