Glass etching experiment, starring Tegerio's Kelly O'Dor
While shoving some stuff around recently, I came upon my glass etching set and decided to try it out on some scrap glass - in this case a piece of mirror. For some no doubt excellent reason I used this as the pattern for my second or third attempt:

- with mixed results, which I post here with the original artist's permission. The scan doesn't do it justice, nor does my attempt at tracing the art onto the stencil as can be seen by the loss of detail and general shifting of lines, as can be seen by comparison to the printout .
The stencil material itself (clear stickyback plastic) has proven to be of doubtful use, as it tends to leave a residue on the glass that doesn't show up until afterwards; the set's instructions suggests using those sheets used to line pantry shelves instead and that's probably a better choice. In the future I'll have a proper light box to work with, being made from a disused 11x18 scanner I've had on hand for several years.
BTW I didn't break the mirror, it was already like that when I found it.
