It's less rage and more annoyance. It is a tired meme, already worn out by the continued fascination and excitement over a children's cartoon by a large percentage of FA and other site users. There is nothing wrong with liking MLP, but I find that there is something inherently wrong with people claiming it is "a joke" when people seem to be genuinely in love with MLP and attempt to spread it like a sort of plague to those who have no interest in what they have to say.

The same could be said with Krystal from Star Fox and Renamon from Digimon.

It hardly makes fun of MLP when Fender's post literally says, "Bronies are here to stay. Denial is magic." As well, your assessment hardly reflects the fact that the artist of said banner seems to do exclusively MLP art, and would probably decline doing a piece that did anything other than celebrate or jovially poke fun at the meme rather than simply ridiculing it. Looking at the comments for the banner submission itself on the artist's page, it becomes abundantly clear that "Bronies" are both in love with the series and with trolling those who are not a part of their little social club. It was tired when 4chan had the whole Boxxy thing, and it's certainly tired now.
