Flight

A poem I wrote in memory of my recent "escape"
They're coming.
Dart, sprint, drop to the ground
Sweet darkness
Heart beating, eyes darting, ears poised for any sign of danger.
move
run, jump, over the fence, fall, ignore the pain in my knee
Run like I've never ran before
Ahead looms my safety, or what I thought was it,
but denied.
They're coming.
Dart, sprint, drop to the ground
Sweet darkness
Heart beating, eyes darting, ears poised for any sign of danger.
move
run, jump, over the fence, fall, ignore the pain in my knee
Run like I've never ran before
Ahead looms my safety, or what I thought was it,
but denied.
