Something random I doodled up a while ago, and liked enough to turn it into a painting. My first minotauros! :P

Tech. details: Painter 9.5, Wacom Graphire, some tweaks in Gimp 2; Work-time: Oh hell, yes.
P.S.: No category for bovines and/ or minotaurs specifically... ? I'm disappointed, FA.

Ha! I was thinking of the Tauren race in World of Warcraft, but you're right, Taurine is an amino acid found in energy drinks. That's an amusing coincidence. I imagine someone into transformation images could have fun with that. ;)

Zowie, but he looks angry! But I guess if you only got fed at nine-year intervals, you'd be pretty pissed, too.
Crazy awesome, as always. Ornate details on his clothes and ax rock as well. There's anice contrast between the texture of his fur and the steely shine of his armour. S'big, sexy, AND beautiful!
Also, nice to see that he finally got out of that damn maze.

Heh heh... I don't think he's that particular Minotaur. But maybe they're distant relatives, or something. ( The title is just a result of my trying to come up with something remotely interesting and/ or amusing. I didn't want to title it "Random Minotaur, Nr° 42846" - Though, honestly, that's all there really is to the picture. But, hush... :P ) Thanks - Glad you enjoy it!
They are missing a ton of species catigory here. However, we should keep in mind this is a Furrie site, not an anthro/fantasy site. Even Furries tend to get that whole realm confused.
Extend: Anyhow, wonderful use of painting technique. Though the border of this beauty could be a bit darker to give it a little more depth, it turned out great. These types of creatures seem very rare for you, and I am glad to see you adding to your collection. Two thumbs.

Well, they're not only missing specific mythological creatures, but rather general species categories. And anyway, I doubt it's possible to draw a clear line to seperate modern anthro and classic mythological creatures. The former pretty much spawned from the latter.
Glad you approve of the content and style! I've actually done a lot of horned ( horny? :P ) critters - Including a drawing of a bull, by artdecade, now that I think about it - But this is my first real Minotaur.
And thanks for your suggestion! Not sure I agree entirely, considering the type of lighting I was going for, but I always appreciate constructive feedback!

Of course, you are most welcome.
Aft: By the meaning of darker shades along the border, it is not so much a lighting issue at all. You have done well enough with that for anyones standards. I mean it is an issue of realisim that meets the eyes. For example, beneath the arms where the torso is one would see light glazing off of the tips of the fur. That is unless the beasts arm was so large it extended past the thickness of their own body and blocked the light from touching their back.
Keep in mind I am not trying to be harmful with words, only trying to add a bit more thought for later use perhaps. It is no matter though, I enjoy this piece reguardless and know I will see many more I enjoy in the future from you.

Wow, a Minotaur, those creatures are not being portraited much, as they deserves. The job you did on this piece is just beautifull, the colour palette is very rich too. The only flaw I can see is his hand, it looks too rigid.
It´s my idea, or there is somekind of a deja vu or something, because Kyoth is starting to do Minotauros, then you, and by my side I´m gonna upload a Minotaur pic soon XD

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I never liked that hand. In fact, a great deal of the anatomy and proportions were off when I started work on this, but I managed to fix most of it during the painting procedure.
And now that you mention it, you posted a WIP shot of your minotaur a while back, didn't you? Here's looking forward to the completed painting. :3
( By the way, I just noticed that I wasn't watching your dA account - Remedied that. )

As for the hair/ fur - One general advise would be to keep things fairly soft and smooth. If you use hard/ opaque brushes, the hair is going to turn out hard and static, which is usually not what you want. Some type of smudge tool can be useful, to add additional detail and texture to the fur. You can also add further detail/ single strands of hair with tiny brushes - But again, keep those fairly subtle and transparent.
Most of all, study real hair/ fur and keep practicing and trying to reproduce it. As with most things, it's actually not that difficult to render convincing hair/ fur, but only once you understand how the real thing looks and works.
Hope some of that was helpful... :P
