Anything that posits Scooby-Doo as the utter waste of time and abyss of thought that it truly is is going straight into my favorites. Well done, sir.

You know, I actually had a friend defend Scooby Doo (At least, the original series) to me, saying that it helped teach children to think critically and not accept supernatural explanations for things that happen. I did not agree.

I could maybe buy that defense... if the idiotic characters ever realized from the start that the monsters are all fake. But no, they have to go through the ENTIRE song-and-dance, and the "Oh! Let's split up, gang!" bit, and Shaggy and Scooby allegedly being funny before their collective brain damage goes into remission long enough for them to realize "HEY, GOLLY GEE, MAYBE THIS IS A GUY IN A SUIT LIKE THE LAST TWO-HUNDRED CASES WERE!"

fascinating little article. I agree with your thoughts on the old Harvey and Hanna-Barabara cartoons. Though I'm surprised that you failed to mention that not only did HB overstay Scooby's welcome, but insisted on making a zillion knock off versions. Jabber Jaws, Josey and The Pussy Cats, Speed Buggy, just to name a few.

Gotta disagree with your thoughts on Pocahontas though. I actually really like that movie but to each their own

When you get to shows like Jabber Jaws, I can't comment. I was taking a ten year sabbatical from TV and never saw any of them.
