No one is 100% sure what killed Alexander. It could have been disease, over-indulgence, poison or medical malpractice. According to the latest theory, it was all of the above. Alex got sick from drinking the equivalent of 5 liters of wine every night (Where he put it, I don't know, but he had a personal drinking cup that held about a gallon and, in an evening, he went through two of these.), contracted a fever and was treated with an herb containing a good deal of arsenic. He was not intentionally poisoned, but his body could not stand the strain and he succumbed.
Alexander died of bird-flu? Possibly. The popular vote is for arsenic added to an already diseased liver. --Not to mention the fact that this guy was fond of running out into traffic and was wounded in battle five times, including an arrow to the chest which pierced his lung. They party hard, those Macedonians.
It's a scene from the movie starred George C Scott. The closest incident that historians can verify is a letter to Patton's mother, in which he details a French landscape he could swear he'd seen before in a previous life. There is also a story that he entered a French town and the mayor of said town offered to show him around. Patton thanked him, but said it wasn't necessary. He knew the place. He then proceeded to take the mayor on a tour, describing each ancient landmark in some detail.
And when some other general commented that Patton would have made a good field marshal for Napoleon, he responded: "Ah but I did, sir. I did!"
