Good old fashioned apple pie just like mom makes, well not really me and my mom have different recipes and are at odds to who's is better.
6 apples (peeled and sliced)
1/2 cup sugar
4 table spoons butter
2 table spoons corn starch
2 tables spoons water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter
2 tsp lemon juice
1. saute apples in the first quantity of butter until slightly softened. add first quantity of sugar to pan as the apples cook. This will draw out the juices let it simmer.
2. Mix water and cornstarch until smooth. Add to apples and simmer until thickened
3. Remove from heat add remaining ingredients, stirring until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted.
4. Cool completely
5. line 9 inch pie tin with crust, and fill with cooled filling. add top crust slicing vents, and crimping the edges. Cover the crimped edges with tinfoil and bake at 425 for thirty minutes. remove foil from edges and bake for 5 more minutes
