I'm assuming this is just a replica, I thought they destroyed the prototypes. VW actually had 3 Beetle prototypes; one of them was a 2 stroke I believe. Porsche himself drove one, Porsches son drove number three, and one of the higher ups drove the second one if I recall correctly.
Regardless, I still love looking at these pictures... The suicide doors, the lines on the roof, I love that engine lid. I really want to see this thing in person. It looks like the only thing they left the same were those damn little windshield wipers. You have two speeds, crawl, and slow... Ah well, at least they're not vacuum actuated meaning you have the option to accelerate or let off the throttle to see what you were about to accelerate into.
