If you don't mind my asking, what kind of thread did you use for this? It's oh so shiny. For some reason the back of my head tells me the shinier the thread, the more expensive (Maybe implying that it's silk). Does that ring true with this piece?

No its just polyester. A lot of people use rayon with embroidery machines, which is definitely shiny, but is a little more expensive (in general). I did buy some extremely cheap poly machine thread in the fabric district of LA which I thought was a great bargain until I used it - not only was it terribly dull and lifeless but it gunked up my machine. :P So avoid the cheap stuff. But usually the name-brand poly thread is fine, like Isacord and Madiera. I buy the Madiera cones online and also sometimes buy the small spools they sell at Joann Fabrics (forget the brand), which is good quality but not a very good deal. Since I use so much thread, I try to buy the large Madeira spools online as I save money.

We lost all of the ones within a few hours drive of here some years ago and then this one reopened on the 20th. So yeah, good times. :)
