The title is a line from Amorphis' "Silent Waters" - which I could actually see Blade singing to his baby, though it's not the... most uplifting song a new parent could imagine.... in fact, it's pretty damn sad... but the tune is nice.
Blade: "A day's light told me... of my son's fate
the sun showed the way, ...grim and severe
pulled under the raging... waters, my child..-"
Marij: "OMG, Blade! Stop singing that!" **Bawling, gets box of tissues**
Blade: "What? What's wrong with it? - Or was I singing too loud? Did my voice crack?"
Uh... yeah. Moving on..
So, okay, thanks to
Valdin (for being enthusiastic about the idea I was sitting on the fence about) this is now Musicpsycho canon: Blade's bedroom antics will bear fruit... or, at least, Marijke will bear his eevee.
But, he's still got another few years of playful "practice sessions" before his life becomes a haze of dirty diapers, ruined shirts, and all-nighters of the colicky kind. (And we won't even mention the regular assault on his ears as baby tests out his lungs.)
Not to say Blade'll be a single father like Taiyo, oh no, but that has disadvantages as much as advantages.. Just imagine him coming home from rehearsals only to have an exhausted and baby-bluesing cheetress flip out the moment he flops on the couch because he forgot to put the toilet seat down before leaving that morning and she almost fell in (or something - really, let's face it, the possibilities for stressed new mommies to go off like a land mine burried under five pounds of C4 are numerous - even if this one happens to be rather mild-tempered, usually - - and Blade asks for it, if we are perfectly honest, as can be attested by the silly dialogue at the beginning).
And then the little ball of fluff is going to promptly conk right out in daddy's arms (and a cheetress against his shoulder) - after soaking his shirt with spitup, of course - and... all will suddenly seem right in the world... until he remembers he hadn't gotten a chance to use the bathroom since taking his leave of his bandmates. That's when you very carefully try to ease that 5lb bundle of ZZZ's to a position that's not pissing your bladder off so much (and fail, of course, 'cause baby doesn't like to be moved no matter how far in dreamland he was - but at least you can to potty now).
It won't be long before Blade finally decides to try out one of her wrap-carriers...
(They'll be a rather attachment family... nursing, pumping, baby-wearing.)
At least both new parents already have some experience with close encounters of the baby-kind.
(Blade babysat for Taiyo since Ryu was an infant - and Marijke had a litter of her own.)
Huh, I wonder what languages they're going to have him learn (both parents are multilingual).
Anyway, here's a sketch of Blade's future bundle of joy, Damon; Time to pass out the cigars!
(Seems to be 'spring' on FA, 'cause I've seen a number of 'children of' submissions recently.)
Notes:
- As per a DA friend's suggestion, I paid a little more attention to what big-eared animals look like as newborns ('cause their ears are anything but large) to make sure Damon looked like a newborn (in this case, rabbits and fennecs). Then checked up various photos of human newborns to get that (dazed) 'newborn expression'.
- To attest to Damon's parentage, he got his mommy's nose shape, but his father's muzzle shape.. and his daddy's litted pupils. I tried to combine both his parents, whilst still keeping the eevee (and no, he did not inherit cheetah-spots - in story, I've established this interspecies thing as not working that way in the case of pokémorphs/normal-anthro hybrids). Not to mention, these particulars did, actually, come from a dream, anyway.
-I did not look up references of eevees, but did purposely draw the neck-fluff differently.
Damon belongs to me.

Yay! =D Totally cute. =)
(Lol. "Almost fell in". xD )
I can probably get to work on the epilogue family portrait later today. It's probably gonna take a few days, though, as I've got twelve characters instead of one xD (which reminds me: Mind if I draw whatername (Blade's teenage (probably mid/early twenties at the end of the story) shiny-Umbreon daughter) as well? Sort of on the side (Blade's side) with a "not so sure if I should join in" look. I've basically already got the whole layout of the portrait figued out (will be drawing it in landscape)).

Thanks! I've got another to scan when I've got the time - but it's not much different, just different angle, so I'll probably combine the two into one image later.
(Well, see? Those things are dangerous if you don't put the seat back down, *Laughing* - Glad you got a kick out of that.)
Damn! Twelve? Man! And I thought... was it 7 that I did? In one picture was bad enough.
(Not at all - go ahead and draw her - and the idea sounds good!)

Okay. =)
I'm perfectly up for the challenge. ^^ And the characters are (not in any particular order in this list):
-Blade
-Marijke
-Damon
-Blade's daughter who's name escapes me
-Valdin
-Taiyo
-Ryu
-Kirashi
-Rowen
-Katya
-Axel
-Kurisu
Basically, the original seven plus Valdin and the four kids (Ryu, Kira, Damon and the considerably older girl who's name escapes me).

Oh, don't worry - her name escapes Blade too. ^.~
(This translates to: I've yet to find her name - but I will find it eventually.) I gotta design her for ya - I've never drawn her.. the fact that I even know her evolved species is amazing.
And, woah, what a list! Hope you've got the references you need. I don't know the exact colour schemes of Axel or Katya (just that Katya colours her hair rather wildly/punkish.)

Digitally - in the GIMP (free graphics program similar to Photoshop, but originally made for Linux, though you can also DL a windows version which is what I use).
Although, I have dabbled with crayons (to acceptable results) - but really prefere digital colouring.
I'd have to find you the link for Al Mackey's Photoshop Tutorial, since those are the steps I use to go about inking and colouring, usually.

Oh, okay. It's simply using the Path tool. I can actually find you the tut in a moment.
Here it is: http://www.fur.com/~almackey/tutorial/step1.html
(It's the 'old' one for Photoshop 4.0.)

Oh! For inking, when I said "path tool", I meant "pen tool". I always forget what it's actually called. So, I use those techniques. A warning about it with the GIMP, you can't switch tools whilst you're working on a path or else it'll delete the path's existance (however, this is also the only way I've figured out to make a path go away when I'm done with it).
