So, the new set, Innistrad has come out for magic the gathering, and I just got a bunch of new folders! Since it's really hard to tell folders apart (And my acrylic paint is drying up!), I decided to paint up my folders.
I typically like to take cards that are in the set and use them for my covers. This time around, I choose Full Moon's Rise (The card in the corner) as the art, since it was simple and would work well with my limited palette. I think the card itself was a digital composition, so I feel happy about my results.
I just thought I'd share what I did, and encourage those who have been curious about Magic the Gathering to check out the cards from the new set, for the double sided werewolves really are neat.

At the Pre-Release, I ran a cobbled Red/Black Vampire Deck with a few Werewolves, and it did pretty well (3-1, losing due to mana curve on match 3).
I also ran werewolves in the Draft last Friday, but the people next to me really were not paying attention, or didn't care and hatedrafted because I pulled almost every DFC that passed by me, and they still went red on one side, and black on the other. Overall, I would have done better drafting G/U spirits, but what are you going to do?
Overall, I'm still up in the air at what I'm doing with the set. I'm tweaking my White Weenie slightly, by adding Fiend Hunter in place of one of the weaker removal spells, but I'm not sure what I want to do just yet. Part of me wants to play a deck based around Graveyard Wurm/Bone Horder/Wreath of Geists, and Culling Dias, but we'll see.

at the pre-release My goal was just to leave with as many wolves as possible. I ran Green red in the sealed, and lost mostly, but it was always close. they would usually win by pulling the right card at the very last moment before my howling hoards rended them asunder. In the booster I ran green white. I pulled a foil tree of redemption (had to pass up a kessig cage breaker for it though.). In the first match I succesfully killed my opponents creature with that tree. All 8 people of the booster draft stopped and began laughing upon seeing his Mr. Hyde run into a tree and die, except for him, he had his face in his hand trying to figure out what just happened.
Now I'm working on improving my werewolf deck. I run it very creature heavy, with 14-16 werewolves, 6 regular wolves, 2 cage breakers, that tree, and two rage throwers. there's only 8-10 non creature spells. It works fairly well. I can get wolves out, and transformed at a decent pace, and always have more creatures to field when needed. the rage throwers are particularly useful. with them I can let my creatures die fearlessly, since my opponent will take damage whenever something dies.
