I have a CanoScan LiDE 700F
I had to scale down the original scan as it was at 5000x65000 and you could see the paper fibers and what not xD
It uses a CIS sensor, which are great for portability over CCD sensors. CCD sensors USUALLY have better resolution, but Canon's put some magic in their CIS scanners and they are on par with most CCD sensors around the same price point. CIS sensors are only good at scanning flat objects, if your object has real 3d depth (like a real statue) than you should find a different CCD scanner.
Basically my scanner only needs a usb->mini usb cable to use (no power cord), it's light, has 48 bit color depth, and a 9600x9600 optical resolution (which is the maximum at this point from what I saw). It also had great reviews on Newegg.com
