One can't improve much with that kind of mentality. I used to feel and thought that way myself...Not being able to make a duplicate artwork that I REALLY wanted to copy, but could never succeeded.
Art is a bit of a hard skill to learn. When a person does get good in art, they slowly develop their own method's on how they each do their artwork as they develop a unique 'style'.
You need to have the drive, to improve on each of your artwork. Start with more simpler art, then trace it, then after tracing a few times, try and duplicate that same artwork by completely hand drawling it. It may not look good for the first few times, but you will begin to notice an improvement as you keep working on it.
