So I have an internship at a local art gallery, and this past couple of weeks each of us interns have been coming up with posters for our October Art Show. The theme we decided on was dark art, or art normally not shown by the art students. Personal. Kind of creepy. An old industrial feel a la Silent Hill to accompany the old building with it's concrete floors, that would really make this feel like a halloween event. Although my poster design was ultimately not accepted, this was what I came up with for the show.
Rusted metal walls with an ominous lighting act as the setting for the show, with the major information stenciled on. MYSELF is machine cut, showing the wild eyes of a man trapped behind the steel wall. An inner self, a twisted alter ego, beating against the rusted hull eager to be unleashed.
My concept is fairly simple in application. I wanted the poster to be something viewers could understand and digest fairly instantly, since we're showing this largely to art students who have very busy lives (like myself) and little time to stop and read. Again though, my design wasn't chosen, and the one that was is pretty good on it's own so I'm not upset about it. Doesn't mean I can't share my work with you guys here. I know this isn't really furry, but sadly with so many other class assignments I haven't really had the opportunity to do something for myself, you know?
Metal image used is an amalgamation of metal textures made by Media Militia and can be found at www.mediamilitia.com. They don't care how you use it so long as credit is given, and there are like 60 different metal textures in the package and it's free to get. really great resource there.
